It’s my birthday!!

Now that's absolutely true!!❤️
And finally, after a long wait, the clock struck 12. I checked the date in the phone for my confirmation and as predicted it was written ‘August 14 2020’! I got a call from my cousin who sang a number of birthday songs for me. My family, too, congratulated me for turning 14. A dear friend of mine, Sansriti, whom I call San also texted me ‘many happy returns of the day!’ As you must have guessed by now, it was my birthday!

The moment I got up from my bed, my mom handed me the phone to talk to my mamaji who was wishing me. Then I talked to my bua and then got ready for my online classes since it was a Friday and Fridays are of course not a holiday. (I really wished it would’ve been one) In the class, my economics teacher also wished me a very happy birthday. Then after the classes, I talked to some more relatives

and friends and thanked them for their lovely wishes and blessings. I didn’t get a birthday gift this time from my parents due to the pandemic, they had asked me if I wanted something but all I wanted was some delicious and junk food since I am a big foodie. After all, the greatest gift for me is that my loved ones, both friends and family are safe during these times. After the birthday calls got over, I had Chhole Bhature for breakfast. Then, I watched some YouTube and then helped mom bake a cake for this evening. Unexpectedly, the cake was really nice and so far, the best one.

Exactly!!!
Back in March, I had decided not to watch horror films after I had watched The Ring. It was so creepy and scary that I wasn’t able to sleep alone for almost a week. But then since I love watching horror movies so I could no longer resist them. And while the cake was cooling down, I watched Annabelle Comes Home on Amazon Prime after months and got lost in the paranormal world for those couple of hours. My friends made beautiful videos of all my photos and sent it to me. I was so touched that I felt like giving them my tightest hug but of course, wasn’t able to.
In the evening, I wore my dress which was preserved in the almirah for an year or so. I had kept that dress specially for this day and didn’t wear it for a single time. But unfortunately, the whole outfit got changed at the last moment and mom and me came up with a better one. I video called my friends on Zoom for the ‘virtual cake cutting ceremony’. After gulping some cake, I chatted with my friends online and we tried some really weird things like annotating on a shared screen and renaming ourselves hilarious names. These things might sound really normal to you but actually as students we aren’t allowed to do such nonsense things in the class. So, this was the best chance to work out the various features of the app!

My birthday cake!๐ŸŽ‚
After all this got over, I ate noodles and paneer chilli for dinner. After having dinner, as I was watching TV, I sadly gazed at the clock. It was 11:45 pm. Just 15 more minutes and then this awesome day will be gone. And then I will have to wait 365 days again for this day to come back again! But still, this was a really nice and special birthday. And it was my friends and family that made it special. It was their love and wishes. I am really thankful to my parents for this memorable birthday. It truly was a gala day!

PS-Wishing all of you a very happy 74th Independence Day!
